Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake Recipe

Ingredients

2/3 cup of butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups of flour
2/3 cups of sauerkraut
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of cocoa
1 cup water

Method

Spray and flour a 9 inch by 13 inch pan.

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Rinse and drain the sauerkraut. Chop it well.

Ideally using a good electric mixer, cream the butter and the sugar well together.

Add the eggs individually. Beat well after adding each egg. Add the vanilla extract.

Using a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.

Add the dry ingredients and the water, alternating additions. Stir in the sauerkraut.

Pour your chocolate sauerkraut cake batter into the pan, place in your preheated oven and bake until done. This usually takes about thirty minutes.

This chocolate sauerkraut cake is excellent served warm or cold.
