Web's Best Chocolate Gravy Recipe
This chocolate gravy recipe is a classic recipe from the Ozarks. Serve it over biscuits or buttered toast in a pinch, with bacon on the side.
Chocolate gravy is not really gravy at all, but a flour based sauce. It's similar to a thin chocolate pudding. Initially, people served it for breakfst but in time it started showing up for dessert as well.
Trivia: Allegedly, roast turkey with chocolate gravy was a favorite dish of the Aztecs.
Everything is better when made with good quality chocolate.
Chocolate Gravy Recipe
3 tbsp cocoa
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp flour
2 cup milk
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
Mix the cocoa, sugar, and flour together. Add the
milk, making sure it mixes smoothly. Heat (medium)
and stir constantly until it thickens. This takes
about 8 minutes. Take off of heat. Add butter. Stir
until it is melted and mixed. Add vanilla and stir
When this cools, it becomes chocolate
